Why Is This Keg Refurbished?
During manufacturing, the bottom skirt weld may require re-welding, or the keg body may have a small ding from handling during final cleaning. These conditions do not affect normal keg performance.
FACTORY DIRECT NOTICE: This item ships directly from the factory. CHI Company does not inspect these kegs. The factory does not warranty these kegs for the presence of excessive weld slag at any re-weld location.
What Counts As Excess Weld Slag?
- Several inches of slag in a condition that makes the keg uncleanable
- Weld gas bubbles to the point that chemical cleaning would not work
- Weld slag approaching 1/4" thickness with weld gas bubbles that would make cleaning impossible
Reported situations involving excessive slag have occurred fewer than 10 times in more than 5 years of selling these kegs. Other sellers may offer these same kegs without disclosing this possibility, but The CHI Company believes in being upfront about the condition.
As of 3/29/12, we know of no other shop that explains the possibility of excess slag to the point that the keg could be unusable due to unsanitary conditions.
Ideal Applications
This 10 gallon ball lock keg is commonly used for beer, soda, sparkling water, kombucha, cold brew coffee, wine and other draft beverage systems. The larger capacity makes it ideal for commercial beverage service, breweries, restaurants, event dispensing and high-volume homebrew operations.
